Carne con papas

Carne con papas (meat and potatoes)


  • 1 kilogram of beef
  • ½ kilogram of potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Paprika
  • 1 cup of tomato purée or fried tomato sauce
  • ½ cup of white wine
  • 1 cup of water
  • Salt


Cut the meat into strips and sauté. When the meat is browned, add the salt, diced onion, crushed garlic and spices. Fry for a few minutes and then add the tomato purée, white wine and water. Cover and leave to cook until the meat is tender.
Add the potatoes, peeled and coarsely diced, and cook on a low heat until they become soft. If necessary, add a little more water along with the potatoes.
Serve with white rice.
