Subsequent to the Spanish Conquest of the island, new forms of agricultural exploitation were brought to the Tenerife: the Roman plough.

Following a long day of labour in the country, for the enjoyment of everyone, Canarian farmers invented a curious sport consisting in lifting the plough, in a combined show of strength and ability.
