Canarian wrestling is a traditional sport originating in the Canary Islands that is characterised by the skill and its noble qualities. The objective consists in knocking the opponent off balance and causing him to touch the ground with any part of his body other than the soles of his feet.

The bout takes place in an area referred to as the “terrero”, made up of two concentric circles with a diameter of 15 and 17 metres respectively, containing sand to lessen the impact of the falls of the combatants.
